The Last Mile Communications Group is one of the oldest players
in Cable Television. The promoters, Mr. Alwe and Mr. Bindra,
can be truly credited with initiation and culmination of most of the
major achievements by Indian Cable Sector.
.
Last Mile Communications is led by pioneers with a thorough
understanding of the cable sector, both technical and commercial. We
are always taking new initiatives and proactive steps for creating and
updating robust business models.
.
Our success is mainly due to visionary qualities and fifteen years of
pro-cable industry initiatives and an ethical stance, that is reflected
in the various entities created and success stories on all fronts. |

Our history runs parallel
to the history of Indian Cable Television. Both are interwoven and
interdependent.
.
Our promoters made their forays into Cable Television just like
thousands of stand-alone operators in the pre-satellite Channel period
of 1985-1990 The Cable TV sector saw a widespread growth of small to
medium operations, barely self-sufficient (though immensely popular)
all over the country crossing the 100,000 mark in units and 6Mn to 8Mn
in subscribers in that phase.
.
The early Nineties changed the picture dramatically as Satellite
Channels began to arrive one after another and the subscriber
expectations shot up placing the Cable Operator under pressure to find
resources to fund upgrades without any corresponding increase in
subscription as the Channels were all Free-To-Air. The Film Industry got
reprieve with passage of amended Copyrights Act creating another
pressure point on Cable Operators who till then relied upon Films as
main attraction for subscribers
.
Our promoters saw the writing on the wall ahead of their contemporaries
and began working on mobilizing corporate funds for organized Cable set
up along with like –minded Associates.
.
.
The first ever multi Channel (30 Channels) Analogue Head-end was
established at Mumbai and a number of Cable Operators were roped in as
Affiliates/Inputers
.
Our Promoters are credited with reducing the number of Operators in
Mumbai alone from 5000 to 50(All India figures have now dropped from
100,000 to less than 3500), training large number of Cable Operators
across India and replicating Mumbai success story in different parts of
the country. The three-year phase was critical for the Cable Sector and
a stellar role was played by our promoters generating tremendous
goodwill for them amongst the Cable Operator fraternity
.
They branched out on their own towards end 1993 and over the past 12
years have devoted themselves to furtherance of the Cable sector
development and growth.
.
The LAST MILE COMMUNICATIONS Group has set up various companies to
under take Cable Television sector oriented business lines.
